Hypnotherapy Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is a therapeutic approach that combines the techniques of hypnotherapy with the principles of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. Hypnotherapy uses guided relaxation and focused attention to access a state where your mind is more open to positive suggestions. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, on the other hand, helps you identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviours.
When combined, this approach is highly effective in addressing issues such as anxiety, stress, phobias, habits, and low self-esteem. By working together, we can help you gain insight into your thoughts and behaviours, and use hypnosis to create a response in your body, which your body can then remember and build upon, reinforcing positive change, helping you achieve your goals and improve your overall well-being.
No, you do not lose control when under hypnosis. During a hypnosis session, you remain fully aware and in control of your actions and thoughts. Hypnosis is a collaborative process where you engage with suggestions that align with your goals, but you are always free to accept or reject them. You will not do or say anything against your will, and you can come out of the hypnotic state at any time. Hypnosis is a safe and natural state that empowers you to make positive changes.
The number of sessions you’ll need varies based on your individual needs and goals. Everyone’s treatment is unique, and I work closely with you to create a personalised plan that aligns with your current lifestyle. Some people may only require a few appointments, while others might benefit from around eight sessions. On average, treatment typically spans six to eight sessions. This is relatively efficient compared to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) alone, which often requires 6-20 sessions. During our initial consultation, we will discuss your treatment plan in detail, and I’ll ensure we regularly review our progress to keep you on track.
Yes, online therapy can be just as effective as in-person sessions for many conditions. Studies show that remote hypnotherapy can produce similar results, with the added benefit of greater flexibility. You can schedule sessions at a time and place that suits you, no matter where you are in the world. All you need is a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a built-in camera and microphone—no special software or technical skills required. I’ll send you a link to click on at the appointment time.
Most people can be hypnotised, although the ability to enter hypnosis varies from person to person. Success depends on factors like willingness, openness, and trust in your therapist. Even a light state of hypnosis can yield effective results if you’re motivated and engaged. Hypnotherapy is most effective when you’re ready for change, feel comfortable with your therapist, and have achievable goals. During our sessions, I’ll guide you to the level of hypnosis that works best for you.
There are some conditions that may not be suitable for hypnosis, individuals with severe long-term depression, psychosis, epilepsy, or certain breathing issues.
While hypnotherapy, meditation, and mindfulness all involve relaxation and focused attention, they are different practices. Hypnotherapy uses guided suggestions to achieve specific therapeutic goals, whereas meditation and mindfulness focus on awareness and presence without a therapeutic intent. Hypnotherapy is more goal- oriented and tailored to address specific issues.

Lucy LampardLois was incredibly welcoming and made me feel at ease right from the start. She explained the process clearly, so I knew what to expect throughout. The sessions felt like a safe space where I could be open and honest without any judgement. Lois tailored her approach to suit my personal goals, and I saw real progress as a result. I highly recommend Lois to anyone considering hypnotherapy.Gemma JohnsI didn't really know what I was expecting but I can honestly say that it exceeded any expectations. Lois was extremely professional and helped me feel at ease in every session, she tailored my sessions depending on how they were going and how I was feeling. She was empathetic and compassionate in her approach. Lois helped me get through a very challenging time and I still use the techniques she taught me today. I would definately recommend Lois.Sam RandallI started my experience with Lois in 2017, I was 21 and suffered with severe anxiety and depression, I didn’t have a lot of friends and was too scared to go anywhere new, I was a 21 year old who had never been to a bar, pub or nightclub with friends. My first session with Lois I was nervous but instantly felt relaxed with her calm and caring approach, I felt at ease and wanted to put 100% into the therapy. After a few sessions I was feeling better and continued with affirmations away from the therapy. Lois has taught be how to deal with anxiety and helped me out of the dark hole of depression, which I never felt I could get out of. I owe everything to Lois, she is the reason I am able to go out, socialise and be independent with trying new places. I still get anxiety and feel down to this day but I can now use the tools Lois taught me in our therapy sessions to challenge my thoughts and push through. If you are struggling and not sure what to do, please go with Lois. She is kind, caring and an extremely helpful therapist. If it wasn’t for Lois, I wouldn’t be here today. Thank you so much for your help, you are the best xxSam ChildI had the pleasure of working with Lois to address my long-standing anxiety, and I can't recommend her highly enough. For many years, anxiety has been a constant challenge in my life, but through our sessions, Lois helped me uncover its root causes and empowered me with the tools to manage and control it. The techniques she taught me have become invaluable in my daily life, and I've noticed a significant improvement both personally and professionally. What stood out to me the most was how much time Lois took to truly understand me as a person. She guided me with care and insight, helping me discover a stronger, more resilient version of myself. I’m incredibly grateful for her support and expertise – she truly is amazingChristine ChildI saw Lois face to face several times and via zoom a couple of times. She helped me work through several issues that were affecting me from my past and present. She listens and most importantly hears what you are saying with understanding, patience and kindness This is the first time I have tried hypnotherapy and the results were impressive and quick. I have been able to use what I learnt when certain situations have arisen and it has enabled me to deal with things with strength, positivity and without any guilt. I would highly recommend Lois to friends, family and anyone reading this.
